Kurt Gibble is the recipient of the 2013 European Frequency and Time Award for his "fundamental contributions to the development of atomic fountain clocks and methods to improve their accuracy to 10-16 level, including comprehensive study of cold collisions and models of distributed cavity phase and microwave lensing effects." He received the award at the IFCS-EFTF conference in Prague this week.  The European Frequency and Time Award has been given since 1993 first biannually, and from 2005 annually, with the goal of recognizing outstanding contributions in all fields covered by the EFTF.
