FTheory: Locality from the Holographic Principle

Under a set of mild assumptions about the holographic principle in quantum gravity, I give a prescription for diagnosing when quantum gravity gives rise to emergent semiclassical local physics; I will define a dual boundary construct called the "causal state," which precisely encodes emergent locality whenever the quantum gravity theory has a good semiclassical description. Applying this approach of the causal state to subsets of the boundary theory shows that quantum gravity shares general features with quantum error correcting codes and quantum secret sharing.
