FTheory: Singularity Resolution in Loop Quantum Cosmology: An Overview
Main Content
Loop quantum gravity predicts that classical differential geometry is replaced by quantum discrete geometry at the Planck scale. More than a decade ago, application of this key prediction to FLRW spacetimes resulted in gaining insights on the way big bang singularity is resolved and replaced by a big bounce. In the last decade, thanks to a synergy of analytical and numerical methods, these results have been extended to much richer spacetimes. In this talk, we will give an overview of these developments for isotropic, anisotropic and black hole spacetimes. The talk will also discuss recent results obtained from an effective spacetime description which indicate that all strong singularities are generically resolved for various isotropic and anisotropic spacetimes in loop quantum cosmology.
