BICEP2 announcement of the detection of gravitational waves has generated significant excitement in the physics community. I will discuss the implication of the detection of gravitational waves for our understanding of cosmology and fundamental physics. I will then discuss galactic foregrounds and the possibility that these foregrounds could account for the BICEP2 signal.
