HEP Seminar: Multi-messenger results from the Pierre Auger Observatory

I will present recent measurements from the Pierre Auger Observatory on the properties of air showers at ultra-high energies. I will discuss the interpretation of these measurements, focusing on studies of arrival directions, which have the potential to reveal the origin of ultra-high energy cosmic rays by association with astrophysical source positions, as well as to reveal properties of the Galactic, and extragalactic magnetic fields. In addition, I will present the results of dedicated searches for neutral particles in Auger (neutrons, photons and neutrinos). The later are particularly exciting as they should arrive in temporal coincidence with electromagnetic counterparts from the sources of ultra-high energy cosmic rays, and can be used for triggering, or follow-up in multi-messenger transient searches, such as the ones currently being performed by the Astrophysical Multimessenger Observatory Network (AMON).
