The next few years will bring about the proliferation of advanced observatories.  Advanced LIGO is turning on within months, with Advanced Virgo soon to follow.  IceCube and its extensions are already making their first important discoveries, while it is going ahead with its second generation plans.  These and other new detectors will probe high-energy transients from unprecedented angles.  I will describe some examples on what we can expect from the first gravitational-wave observations, and from neutrino observations from high-energy transients.  I will mainly focus on gamma-ray bursts, one of the primary targets of multimessenger observation campaigns.
