In the past 20 years, several examples of unconventional superconductors have been discovered. After a quick review of conventional superconductors, I shall describe what make these new superconductors unconventional. Their origin seems closely related to electron repulsion and the resulting magnetism. The quest for an understanding of these new superconductors has led to a search for unconventional magnets which is finally bearing fruits in the past few years.
