Spring 2015

Peter Hohman

Peter Hohman of Erie, PA will be honored as the student marshal for the Eberly College of Science during Penn State University's spring commencement ceremonies, May 8th, 2015. Hohman's faculty escort for the commencement will be Eric Feigelson, professor of astronomy and astrophysics. Graduating with a 3.99 GPA in physics, mathematics, and in astronomy and astrophysics, Mr. Hohman will be pursuing a career as a actuarial analyst at Erie Insurance.



Fall 2014

Kristina KaldonKristina Kaldon was awarded the Outstanding Presentation award for her poster titled " Searching for Fast Radio Bursts in GALFACTS data" at the Undergrad Exhibit which received extremely high scores from the judges. Kristina is a double-major in Astronomy and Astrophysics and Physics.

Spring 2014

John GrohJohn Groh, a recent graduate in physics and mathematics and a Schreyer Honors Scholar, Originally from Hummelstown, Pennsylvania, Groh chose to major in physics and math at Penn State because he was attracted to the fundamental nature of the areas.  As a young research scientist, Groh also wanted to experience the opportunities of a small college with the resources and research of a large university like Penn State. John will be attending graduate school in the fall at the University of California, Berkeley to focus on either elementary particle physics or cosmic microwave background polarization. John has been the recipient of two of the Honors College awards, the Paul Axt Price and the Evans Award for Research Achievement making him the first Schreyer Scholar to receive both awards, as well as being the Student Marshal for the Physics department at this years Spring graduation. Other awards earned where the Goldwater Scholarship (2014), CERN Undergraduate Fellowship (2012), and a Undergraduate Discovery Grant Recipient (2013).

Spring 2014

Kristin MarinoKristin Marino was awarded The David Bohm award, The David Bohm Award recognizes “…a graduating senior Physics major who has excelled academically and who has made contributions to Penn State outside the classroom in areas such as research or service to Penn State at the department, College, or University level.
