Lecture summaries for Phys. 563: Quantum Field Theory 1 (Fall 2009)

These notes contain the summary slides I used in class. They contain many of the main points, but not the details. Some lectures did not have summary slides. I have also included some other supplemental material that I handed out, etc.

Translation of the field-theory section of the Born-Jordan paper [M. Born and P. Jordan, Zeit. f. Phys. 34, 858 (1925)]: postscript file, pdf file. This paper gave the first (sketchy) treatment of real quantum field theory (at least as far as I know). Remarkably, this is in the first paper that formulates the basics of quantum theory as we know it now.
