Funding for AMANDA
AMANDA is funded principally by the National Science Foundation .
As the main funding agency for all Antarctic science, the NSF is also making a significant outlay
for renovating the South Pole station and other ancillary equipment, such as the LC-130 Hercules
aircraft used to transport people and equipment in and out of the South Pole. The NSF's
Office of Polar Programs coordinates these activities.
You can find a document detailing the spending for the South
Pole station renovation and ancillary equipment
here.
