The Structure Functions Subgroup
of the QCD Working Group for Snowmass 96
25 June - 12 July 1996, Snowmass, Colorado
The primary goals of our subgroup are to address:
- the experimental and theoretical issues related to the
measurement/extraction of structure functions/PDFs, mainly for input to
other physics; and
- the use of structure functions themselves to extract physics (QCD
tests, evolution issues, saturation, BFKL, Pomeron structure, etc.).
One tangible result of this group will be a report to be
published with the proceedings. Presumably, this should include
- a compilation of the present status of structure functions, and
- a progress report of new projects initiated at this workshop.
The first item requires a review of the present data and literature,
appending a critical assessment regarding the proposed machine
parameters. Here, we can make use of previous work, but the material
will have to be reorganized. In this process, we may uncover
unresolved issues and new directions, and this should stimulate new
collaborative projects for the second item.
We welcome participation in these projects. Please contact a convener for
more information or to add your name to the following list.

Participation in the Structure Functions
Subgroup is not an exclusive proposition. We plan to collaborate coherently
with other subgroups where cooperation is natural, and there will be
sufficient flexibility for members to work with more than one group.
